Experience Level: Medium

Work Type: Night Shift - Remote Asia Pacific Time Zone (UTC +5:30 to UTC +9)

Region: Europe

Salary: Competitive USD salary aligned with senior SMS NOC profiles in the Philippines  - up to 42K/year

About us:

For our partner, a B2B telecom carrier operating across Europe, providing A2P SMS services, DID/inbound number hosting, MO and MT routing to enterprise clients including major hyperscalers and BPO we are hiring their first Senior SMS Network Operations Engineer based in the Asia Pacific time zone (UTC+5:30 to UTC+9)to provide 24/7 expert coverage of our SMS network during European night time hours.

This is a deeply hands-on SMS role. You eat SMPP for breakfast. You can spot a misconfigured bind from a delivery report. You know what makes A2P traffic flow or fail.

What You’ll Do:

You will be the company’s SMS operations engineer during European night time, owning the network end-to-end:

  • Monitor A2P SMS infrastructure in real time across multiple European countries: delivery rates, latency, throughput, bind health

  • Troubleshoot MO and MT traffic issues: misrouting, undelivered messages, encoding problems, sender ID issues, MNP lookup failures

  • Investigate inbound number (DID/LVN) issues across hosted ranges, including range allocation, porting and carrier-level filtering

  • Read and analyse SMPP traces, PCAPs and aggregator logs to identify root causes

  • Be the first responder on incidents paged by our enterprise customers, with a 15-minute response commitment on critical (Sev 1 / Sev 2) issues

  • Open and manage trouble tickets, classify incident severity, drive resolution with our suppliers

  • Produce post-incident reports with root cause analysis, traffic impact breakdown, fix and preventive measures

  • Contribute to NOC runbooks, monitoring rules and operational documentation

Working hours:

Manila time: 06:00 to 14:00, Monday to Friday, with a weekend on-call rotation shared across the team as it grows. You work during your daytime, when you are at your sharpest.

What We Require:

  • 5+ years in SMS network operations at a carrier, aggregator, CPaaS or messaging hub

  • Deep hands-on SMPP 3.4 expertise: binds (transceiver, transmitter, receiver), submit_sm and deliver_sm flows, error codes, throughput optimisation, troubleshooting connection drops and message loss

  • Strong experience with A2P SMS at scale: routing, MCC/MNC selection, MNP lookups, throughput shaping, carrier filtering, delivery reports

  • Expertise on MO traffic: inbound message handling, sender ID preservation, carrier handover, latency tuning

  • Hands-on experience operating DID / inbound number ranges: provisioning, porting, hosted vs owned numbers, carrier-level configuration

  • Comfortable reading and analysing SMPP traces, PCAPs, aggregator and SMSC logs

  • Familiar with trouble ticketing (TT) workflows, severity classification, post-mortem reporting, NOC operating discipline

  • Working knowledge of character encodings (GSM 3.38, UCS-2, ASCII, Windows-1252), concatenated messages, WAP Push, binary SMS

  • Fluent written and spoken English (you will interact with enterprise customers and a multinational team)

  • Reliable home internet with backup connection for 24/7 commitments

Strong plus:

  • Hands-on experience with Alaris SMS infrastructure (in-Memory Profiler, SMS Routing, Number Portability Database, Traffic Wizard)

  • Experience interfacing with hyperscaler customers (Google, Microsoft, Meta, AWS) on SMS use cases such as OTP and 2FA flows

  • Familiarity with European telecom regulators (ARCEP, Ofcom) and their A2P rules

Nice to Have:

  • Voice knowledge: basic understanding of SIP, voice termination, DID for voice

  • Exposure to ISO 27001 or ISO 27701 operational requirements

What We Offer:

  • Competitive USD salary aligned with senior SMS NOC profiles in the Philippines  - up to 42K/year

  • 100% remote, work from home

  • Modern stack and infrastructure, including Alaris and direct connections to European rangeowners

  • Direct collaboration with the Head of SMS Network and the founder

  • Real impact: you will be the foundation of our enterprise customer operations and the first dedicated SMS expert in company’s NOC
